The online medical resource Medscape, which is owned by WebMD, just came out with its Physician Compensation Report, which features data from more than 19, doctors in 26 specialties. All the data is self-reported and based on information collected for Medscape’s yearly survey. I am curious to know what a heart surgin makes because i am looking into that kind of stuff. Please reply! I also listed another link below about a shortage of heart surgeons. This could cause heart surgeons salaries to increase since there is a shortage and it takes 12 years to become a heart surgeon. Also, The average age of the surgeons now are 55, and more than half plan to retire in the next 13 years, according to the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, so there could be a severe shortage then.

Travis Singleton, senior vice president of national physician search firm Merritt Hawkins, told Medscape he thought one of the reasons internists are making more is simply because their demand is increasing as baby boomers reach retirement.
